The safety and dignity of women is the foundation of progress for any society. Jaipur Police is committed to this responsibility and wants to make citizens aware that any kind of violence, obscenity, or crime against women will not be tolerated.

With the message “Empowered Women, Our Responsibility,” it has been clearly stated that acts such as outraging the modesty of a woman, harassment, cyberstalking, violation of privacy, rape, or sexual crimes against minors not only bring shame to society but also invite the strictest punishments under law.

I am sharing this information which I received during a session on women’s safety held at St. Xavier’s Senior Secondary School, Jaipur on 23rd August.

Jaipur Police appeals to every citizen to respect women, help in providing a safe environment, and stay away from such crimes, because if found involved, immediate and strict action will be ensured.

The following acts are considered crimes:

  1. Assault with intent to outrage the modesty of a woman and cause harm to her dignity and respect (Section 74 BNS – Maximum imprisonment: 05 years)
  2. Making obscene remarks, molestation, or forcing a woman into sexual relations against her will (Section 75 BNS – Maximum imprisonment: 03 years)
  3. Violation of privacy, stalking, cyberstalking, repeatedly contacting a woman without consent (Section 77/78 BNS – Maximum imprisonment: 07 years)
  4. Involvement in heinous crimes such as rape (Section 64–70 BNS – Punishment: Life imprisonment or death penalty)
  5. Rape, sexual harassment, or obscenity against minors (POCSO Act, 2012 – Punishment up to death penalty)

If found guilty of any of the above crimes, immediate and strict action will be taken against you. Respect women. Do not become liable for punishment, and help in creating a safe environment for women.
