International Women’s Day is celebrated on 8th March every year, all over the world. It celebrates womanhood and pays tribute to the indomitable spirit of women across the globe Women’s Commission, Diocese of Jaipur too celebrated International Women’s Day at Gyandeep Bhavan, Ghat Gate on 10th March. The event was presided over by Most Rev. Bishop Joseph Kallarackal, Bishop of Jaipur Diocese. It began with the Eucharistic celebrations. Bishop’s homily was a rich spiritual food for the soul. He laid emphasis on the Women’s Day theme “Invest in Women Accelerate Progress”. He further motivated the women by giving inspiring examples of Biblical women such as Ruth, Deborah and Mother Mary. He inspired to make Christ centered families. A group photograph was captured after the Mass.
A programme was lined up on the occasion. Chief Guest was Most Rev. Bishop Kallarackal. the function was graced by the spiritual Advisor of the Commission, Rev. Fr. Jaipal. Welcome address was, delivered by the President of Women’s Commission, Ms. Neelam Chopra. International Women’s day is an occasion to celebrate the progress made towards achieving gender equality, women empowerment and digital, literacy keeping these factors in mind, Commission for Women, Diocese of Jaipur launched its website. The Commission had a vision of getting Minority certificates for Diocese of Jaipur. The forms were collected by the women cell co-ordinators of each parish in the month of July. President handed over the minority certificates to Bishop Kallarackal. Mr. Nikhil Jose had been running around in the government offices to get this task accomplished. We are grateful to him for him for his precious time.
8th March brings many things for women – a cause for celebration a reason to pause and re-evaluate a remembrance, an inspiration and a time to honour. We are grateful to Punjab National Bank to donate dry ration kits to the widows of our Diocese, worth Rs.50,000/-. The zonal manager of PNB, Mr. R.K. Vajpayee was present on the occasion. This was an example of reaching out to the people of out of faith too. We are grateful to PNB for this noble gesture.
We organized a session on Financial Literacy by Mr. George James. Financial Literacy is the cognitive understanding of financial components and skills such as budgeting, investing and personal financial management. We are grateful to Mr. George James for the same. Mr. John Thomas, Mr. Nikhil Jose, Mr. George James, Mr. R.K. Vajpayee were honoured by the Women’s Commission for their contribution in the growth of the Commission. Bishop Kallarackal urged the women to think about pro life and how to bring harmony amongst the families and women. Fr.Jaipal gave a beautiful message on the occasion. Budget presentation was taken care by the Treasurer, Mrs. Sunita Aldrin.
A Bible Quiz was conducted by Mrs. Veena Michael which was well planned and was based from the Gospel of St. Luke. An action song for the women was conducted by Mrs. Sweta. Bishop Swami Ji distributed Rosaries to all the women. The programme concluded with the CCBI Women’s Anthem.
